Nine New Firefighters Join Marion

In support of the City’s commitment to public safety, nine new firefighters are joining Team Marion next week. These new members are a combination of six new positions and three replacement positions to complete the staffing of Marion’s three fire stations. They will begin the City’s largest professional fire academy in the department’s history on Monday, Sept. 11. They are:

  • Brody Brokaw is coming from Top Shape Gym and Lil Drug Store Products,
  • Austin Gaylor is coming to us from Area Ambulance Service and the North Liberty Fire Department,
  • Sudhanwa Kholgade is currently a paid-on-call firefighter with Marion and will be joining the team full-time,
  • Kaleb McBurney is coming to us from Wendling Quarries and the Monroe Township Fire Department,
  • Kaleb Payne is coming from the Regional Medical Center and the Monticello Ambulance,
  • Weston Platz is coming to us from the City of North Liberty,
  • Jacob Van Zante is coming from the City of North Liberty and the Norway and Amana Fire Departments,
  • Tyler Vorwald is coming to us from the City of Dyersville, and
  • Matthew Welch is coming from the Burlington Fire Department.
